Pictures, Pictures!!!

Here are a bunch of pictures of Lilly before and after her surgery. They are in no particular order. Just thought you might want to see what her tumor looked like and what she went through during her two week stay at the hospital. We are sure grateful to all of the hospital staff for the amazing care they gave Lilly. Our time at the hospital would not have been as bearable if it weren't for the kindness of all the hospital staff. I can't tell you how impressed I was with every one of our nurses and the doctors. We actually kind of even miss them a bit. Though we don't miss being away from the family and actually being in the hospital.

Lilly in the hospital getting IV antibiotics to try to kill the infection in her hygroma.
Lilly sleeping all cozy-like. She likes to sleep with her arms by her face and above her head.
She looks so old in this picture...keep in mind, she is only 3-4 weeks old in these pictures.
They had Lilly hooked to the monitor most of our stay at the hospital. They wanted to be able to make sure her heart rate and breathing and everything was okay while she was getting the antibiotics.
Here are some post-op pictures of Lilly. She was hooked up to so many things. She had a tube down her nose, one down her throat, her wound-vac on her incision, a place for an IV in both arms, a place for an IV in her foot, and on top of that, she was hooked up to the monitors. Due to surgery and everything, she swelled quite a bit. She didn't even look like the same baby. The swelling went down after a few days.
She had surgery on June 20th which was a Sunday. When she came out of surgery that day, she was only in the ICU until tuesday afternoon. The surgery went really well and her body recovered quickly. She was able to be taken off the breathing machine Monday afternoon. She actually got to go back to nursing that night.
Her tumor got to looking pretty nasty before the surgery. The day before they did the surgery, they aspirated the tumor, which means they stuck a needle in and took out a ton of the fluid. This made the tumor shrink to about half the size.
Another pre-op picture. Before she had the surgery, we had been in the hospital for a week while Lilly got IV antibiotics to try to get the infection to go away. The infection wouldn't "die", and that is why they chose to do the surgery so quickly.
Lilly was such a good baby through the whole "hospital adventure" she had. She was poked and prodded so many times and just took it like a champ. Everyone would always make comments about how sweet she was. And she sure is a sweet baby, but it seems that since we have come home she has been a bit more fussy. We love her just the same and are so blessed to have her in our family!!
